Excited to receive "We're pleased that you will be our first featured photographer..." for the Friends of Loxahatchee Refuge "Instagram Takeover". It starts July 1! I couldn't be more grateful to share the splendor and wonder of one of my favorite places. Stay tuned. @loxahatcheefriends

This male Red-winged Blackbird (top image) was doing everything he could to attract a mate from constant conk-la-ree song to fluffed-up, puffed-out bright shoulder patches. And, the beautiful Red-winged Blackbird female seemed to be making him work really hard to get her attention. Watched them well over 30 minutes and the courting continued. They seemed to take turns flying back and forth to the same area. Although, they were never at the same spot at the same time. Photographed at Green Cay Wetlands. See more birds in the Wildlife Collection.
