Top: "Rosie" 24"x36" on metal; Bottom: "Pretty in Pink" 16"x24" on metal Perhaps the most stunning exhibit I've ever hung. Saturday we installed the Annual Juried Exhibit of the National League of American Pen Women-Fort Lauderdale Branch featuring 58 artworks from 31 amazing women artists. I'm feeling tickled pink that both of my pieces were juried into this fine exhibit. On exhibit until end of April at the Anne Kolb Nature Center, 751 Sheridan Street, Hollywood, FL 33019. Let me know if you'd like to visit together.
Many of my earlier works, printed on photograpy paper, matted and framed are on exhibit in my latest solo exhibit "Photographs By Phoenix" at the new Parkland Library, 6620 N University Dr, Parkland, FL. Most of the 25 works on display are limited edition pieces being offered at special prices. The show includes birds, wildlife, lanscapes, waterscapes, sunrise/sunset, Everglades and even a favorite piece taken in Ireland. It also includes my first award-winning photograph, "Tree at Sunset," that happened to win 1st Place and inspired me to embrace my path as a conservation photographer. If you're local, would love to give you a personal tour. If any of these nature wonders speaks to you, please let me know and we can discuss how to get it to you. Thanks for viewing. info@photographsbyphoenix.com

3280 NE 32nd Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308 * 954-537-3370 Let me know if you'd like a private showing or more info, info@photographsbyphoenix.com. Story behind the photo...... They say the camera reflects both ways... the subject being photographed and the attitude and emotions of the photographer. I could only see beauty the day I was privileged to meet Louie at the Center for Great Apes, the only accredited orangutan sanctuary in North America, as well as feel love for the work to rescue other orangutans and apes from abuse and extinction. I was privileged to have a private tour of the Center along with two other photogs. As we entered the grounds several of the orangutans started throwing mud at me. All I could image was it was a greeting of some kind. Perhaps they were confused by our matching hair color. As we approached Louie's enclosure he started to run towards me. I had my lens right up against the enclosure. Then he seemed to "see" me. He paused. We connected. I clicked the shutter. An experience I will never forget and am forever grateful for. In all these years, this is the first time I actually stopped to look back on the thousands of images I've taken to narrow it down to my favorites. It's an interesting exercise to observe what calls out to me, makes me pause and relive the moment and emotions, and get a feel for where I spent my time, energy and love. With COVID_19 seemingly shutting down the world starting on March 15, 2020, for the most part I took very few images in 2020, other than those in my backyard and around my neighborhood. Starting 2020 Halloween night with a full moon I started extending my photo adventures and by Thanksgiving that year I was venturing out at least two times each week. Staying closer to home I found myself taking far fewer landscape images than my norm in past years. As much as I love landscapes and waterscapes, thankfully I live in a birder's paradise and found myself frequenting nature refuges, wetlands and parks that are known for attracting birds. I also edited a few images originally taken few years back; Forst Bathing is included in this collection. Hope you enjoy my favorites of 2021. May you be cherished, nurtured, uplifted, supported, protected and inspired for your best year yet in 2022. Thanks for following me this past year, loving my fine art photogapahy and acquiring my work. Happy New Year everyone! Click to See more Wildlife Images.
