Watch the Year in Review
January seems to naturally be a time of reflection on the past year as well as setting intentions for the new. For me, 2025 started with unexpected, character-building experiences and as the year progressed was filled with many wonderful moments in my happy place, photographing in nature, the art world and celebrating with friends. Looking back it's difficult to fathom that I accomplished as much as I did. The first quarter I had two cateract surgeries with very mixed results (especially for a photographer) and my first ever (and surely, my last) kidney stone. Somehow during this time I also had two solo exhibits. By the numbers, it was a very full, successful year of art exhibits: * Solo Exhibits - 3 * Juried Exhibits - 6 * Group Exhibits -11 * Pop-Up Show - 1 * Awards - 3 None of these experiences and opportunities would be valuable without the truly loving and supporting community of friends, collectors and curators. I am sincerely grateful to all who have impacted my life, my art. During this time I continued to serve as President of the National League of American Pen Women-Fort Lauderdale Branch (9th year) and as vice president of the City of Fort Lauderdale's Public Art and Placement Advisory Board (5th year). 2026 marks my 15th year returning to photography and winning my first 1st Place Award. I actually started as a self-taught high school photography and film-making teacher a while back before the digital age. After practising for some 20 years I left photography for some 20 years before returning. The symbol for the 15th anniversary is Crystal, representing clarity, transparency, and the beauty of a strong, enduring love that has been refined through challenges, much like crystal is formed under pressure. This seems to sum me up perfectly. Other symbols include the rose (I'll take that as Roseatte Spoonbills, thank you) and the color purple (my signature color). My intention for 2026 is simple. Be Inspired. Inspiring others is a deep core value for me. Now it's my turn to be very conscious to only spend time in places and with others that Inspire me. Looking forward to this latest adventure on my journey :)
