Big Thank You to @ArtCollectorsandConnectors founder Carol Teti-Keesler for hosting a special, up close and personal, tour of my solo exhibit at the Plunge Beach Resort. It was my sincere pleasure to share the stories behind each of the 18 photographs in the exhibit with these talented creatives.
It's a winner! So honored to have "Early Morning Fog" Win First Place at the National League of American Pen Women - Florida Biennial Conference. Especially honored since this group is close to my heart having been president of the Fort Lauderdale Branch, National League of American Pen Women - Fort Lauderdale Branch, for past 6 years. And, proud to be a winner among this esteemed group of winners. See the video of all the winners starting at 47.32, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VhwYxSuJIs.
Story Behind the Photo... Camping overnight at Middleton’s Fish Camp in central Florida, we’re the first pontoon boat on Blue Cypress Lake just before sunrise. This natural freshwater lake has the highest concentration of osprey in the world. As the pontoon boat is moving quickly, this Zen-like vision appeared through the early morning fog. The osprey are still roosting in their nests in cypress trees lining the lake’s edge. Also, honored that this piece has also been juried into the Business for the Arts of Broward, www.bfabroward.org/programs/art-stroll/ "Art & Stroll" Event. This special event of fine art, music, food is November 17th, 5 - 8pm, in downtown Fort Lauderdale's Las Olas. Honored to have two fine art photographs juried into the Delray Art League exhibit. "Reflections at Pine Glades Lake" is one of my fav places for sunsets and this winter sunset was amazing with color and clouds. the other is "Dawn's Early Light". I drove over an hour to arrive at sunrise to capture this majesty about 5:30 am. Knelling close to the coral rock formation, as close to the water's edge as possible, I timed the shot to not get hit by the waves. Showing now through Nov 8th at Sugar Sand Park Community Center, 3000 S. Military Trail, Boca Raton, FL 33486. Thanks for viewing.
UPDATE: "Long Room" received an Honorable Mention award.
My Fort Lauderdale branch collaborated with the Boca Raton branch of the National League of American Pen Women on a new judged show. As the arts chair, I admit I'm rather proud of it. Two of my fine art photographs are included in this beautiful exhibit... "Long Room", photographed during my art residency in Ireland and "Montauk Point Lighthouse" in the Hamptons. Both pieces at 24 x36 inches on aluminized metal. The rest of the story behind the photographs.... About "Long Room"... At the end of my artist residency in Ireland I took the bus from Kerry County on the west side of Ireland to Dublin to catch my flight back home. I was bumped from my return flight three times. Things always happen right whether it seems that way of not at the time. This gave me the perfect time, albeit short, to check out some notable place in Dublin. I am so glad that I was guided to Trinity College. Although, I took the tour there I spent most of my time in the Long Room, the old library right out of Harry Potter. It's dim, crowed with hundreds of people wandering about and they don't allow tripods or flashes. I may have taken this shot and others there some 100 times to get the one. About "Montauk Point Lighthouse"... It was quite a blustery, fall, foggy day. People were shouting at me from the cliff to get out of the where I was standing near the water's edge behind large boulders to take the shot. They were concerned about rouge waves. So I only took about five shots. And, yes, I did get rather wet and was happy to get the shot!
