Hope you can join the fun. Honored to be juried into three exhibits that open this weekend along with many other talented artists. If you miss the opening, as always, feel free to contact me directly to set-up a personal tour, info@photographsbyphoenix.com.
Honored to have two of my owl images selected to be included in the current exhibit at Bonnet House Museum and Gardens, a historical treasure in South Florida, in the Welcome Center. Top to bottom: Barred Owl, photographed in the Everglades and Burrowing Owl, a threatened species in Florida, was photographed at Brian Piccolo Park. Both are ready to hang measuring 12" x 12" on metal.
Just announced..."Pride" was awarded Highly Commended Winner in the Wild Photo Awards. Honored to be among these fantastic international photographers.
See more in the Winged Life Collection The Kiss taken on New Year's Day.... Rock Pigeons often are overlooked, probably because they are so common. Yet in the right light they sparkle and what about those red-orange eyes.
More birds in WingedLife Collection What a surprise... Finally had a little break to catch-up on reading a few magazines. While flipping through Birds&Blooms September Extra issue saw this in the "Garden with a Purpose Bird Tales" section by yours truly. My photo of the Spot-breasted Oriole is the on the right page.
Delighted to offer this unique month-long photography workshop. In addition to once a week in-the-field photo instruction, you'll also receive once a week Zoom classes each week to prepare you for the field class as well as critique your work for the previous outing. If you know me, you know even through this is a very small group class (eight students max) I always offer individualized instruction. Hope you'll join us. Reach out with any questions or to RSVP.
Recently had opportunity to drive to Florida's west coast and visit the Collector's Gallery and Framery which represents my works there. Leah, the owner, feel in love with "Attracting" and asked me to have it printed so she could hang it on the wall. This was my first time seeing it printer and I must admit I fell in love with it myself. Printed on metal the Great Heron looks like satin standing out among the twigs and leaves in its natural environment. The piece measuring 35 x 37 inches is titled "Attracting" because that is exactly what's going on here. In its breeding plumage, this male heron is "strutting" its stuff as in pose showing off it's beautiful self with the intention of attracting a mate. "Attracting" is on display along with some of the other pieces from my collection carried by the gallery on "my wall".
If you're in Venice, FL or nearby, hope you'll take a moment and check him out along with "Early Morning Fog, Milky Way Over the Keys and Louie. Or, contact me for more info on "Attracting," other images from the "WingedLife Collection" or other pieces. Pictured above: 1st Place "Rosie" by Phoenix and 2nd Place "When We Grow Up" by Donna Sallee.
Excited that I can now announce that "Rosie" won First Place in the National League of American Pen Women - Fort Lauderdale Branch Juried Media and Fine Arts Exhibit. Honored to be among these 57 works by 31 artist. It's quite a stunning show, perhaps one of the most exquisite I've ever seen. Showing through April 29th at Friends of the Anne Kolb Nature Center. See all art work in the exhibit at National League of American Pen Women. Just scroll down the page. New collectors from Florida's west coast are enjoying "Peacock," 12" x 12" on metal framed in black. See more from the 12x12 Collection.
